About the speaker:
Helia Hashemi is a fifth-year Ph.D. student at the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval (CIIR) of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is a recipient of Bloomberg’s Data Science Ph.D. Fellowship. Her research interests lie in the areas of Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing. In her Ph.D., she has focused on conversational information-seeking systems, or in other words, how to help people find the information they need through conversation – the most natural way of communication.
